MarketDeal24.Com – Prime Minister of Nepal KP Sharma Oli has called an emergency cabinet meeting on Wednesday. The development comes a day after top leaders of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) asked him to demit office with immediate effect.
The senior leaders include former prime ministers Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jhalanath Khanal, and former deputy prime minister and home minister Bamdev Gautam. These leaders cited his ‘failure’ as a reason for pressing for his resignation.
According to the Nepalese media, the Standing Committee meeting, the highest policy-making body of NCP held on Tuesday got heated up as Oli’s recent controversial remarks on neighboring India, among other issues, was on the agenda for discussion.
Former prime minister Jhalanath Khanal alleged that the incumbent promoted factional interests in the party and worked only to meet his personal goals.
He also said that KP Oli failed to bring fresh policies and continued the capitalist programs of the past, putting aside the goals of socialism.
