MarketDeal24.Com – A day after US administration officially classified Chinese telecom vendors Huawei and ZTE as a ‘threat to national security,’ government sources in India are of the opinion that data theft and security concerns are the prime issues on deciding 5G vendors for Indian market.
A senior government official said, “5G technology is absolutely crucial for accelerating and entrenching India’s march towards digitization. But we also need to balance some important factors before deciding for a vendor.”
As per some experts, the stance taken by the Indian government may have some serious implications for Chinese tech vendors like Huawei and ZTE. Restriction on telecom vendors will deal them with a blow which will be severe than 59 apps.
The Trump administration has already prohibited american businesses from either working or purchasing telecom equipment from firms deemed a threat to the country’s national security.
On Tuesday, the Federal Communications Commission formally classified Huawei and ZTE as a threat to the US national security, effectively stopping US businesses from tapping $8.3 billion government funding from buying telecom equipments from these firms.
